Apple pie Recipe 🍎

Ingredients:

  • 1 recipe for double pie crust
  • 6-7 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (about 2 1/4 lbs)
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 Tbsp water for egg wash

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. Make the pie crust recipe and chill per instructions while preparing the filling.
  3. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 3 Tbsp flour then simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
  4. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. In a large bowl, toss apples with cinnamon.
  7. Place bottom crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Pour apple mixture into crust.
  8. Dot with butter.
  9. Roll out top crust and place over filling. Trim and crimp edges.
  10. Brush top crust with egg wash.
  11. Cut several slits in top crust to allow steam to escape.
  12. Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  13. Reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
  14. Let cool completely before serving.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples for the best flavor. Granny Smith apples are tart, while Golden Delicious apples are sweet.
  • If you don't have a double pie crust recipe, you can use two single pie crusts. Just be sure to crimp the edges together well to seal the pie.
  • To prevent the top crust from browning too quickly, you can cover it with a piece of foil for the first 15-20 minutes of baking.
  • Serve apple pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Enjoy...😊
