Apple pie Recipe 🍎
Ingredients:
- 1 recipe for double pie crust
- 6-7 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (about 2 1/4 lbs)
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 Tbsp water for egg wash
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- Make the pie crust recipe and chill per instructions while preparing the filling.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 3 Tbsp flour then simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
- Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, toss apples with cinnamon.
- Place bottom crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Pour apple mixture into crust.
- Dot with butter.
- Roll out top crust and place over filling. Trim and crimp edges.
- Brush top crust with egg wash.
- Cut several slits in top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- Reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Let cool completely before serving.
Tips:
- Use a variety of apples for the best flavor. Granny Smith apples are tart, while Golden Delicious apples are sweet.
- If you don't have a double pie crust recipe, you can use two single pie crusts. Just be sure to crimp the edges together well to seal the pie.
- To prevent the top crust from browning too quickly, you can cover it with a piece of foil for the first 15-20 minutes of baking.
- Serve apple pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Enjoy...😊
