Beef Lasagna Recipe
**Ingredients**
- 1 pound.. Beef
- 1/2 onion.. chopped
- 2 cloves garlic.. minced
- 1 (28-ounce) ..can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce).. can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon ..dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon.. dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon.. salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ..black pepper
- 12 lasagna.. noodles
- 1 (15-ounce).. container ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup.. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup.. shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:-
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)...
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease...
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes...
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened...
- Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions...
- In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese...
- To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish...
- Top with a layer of lasagna noodles, breaking them to fit if necessary...
- Spread with half of the ricotta cheese mixture...
- Top with another layer of meat sauce...
- Repeat layers, ending with a layer of noodles...
- Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese...
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes...
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly...
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving...
Tips:-
- For a richer flavor, use half ground beef and half Italian sausage...
- If you don't have time to make your own sauce, you can use a jar of marinara sauce.
- You can also add other vegetables to the meat sauce, such as mushrooms, peppers, or zucchini...
- For a more flavorful lasagna, layer the noodles with a layer of béchamel sauce...
- To prevent the lasagna from drying out, cover it with foil during baking...
- Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before serving so that the flavors can meld.
