Maash ki Daal fry Recipe
Ingredients:-
- 1 cup urad dal (split black lentil)
- 1 tablespoon.. oil
- 1 onion..chopped
- 2 cloves.. garlic, minced
- 1 inch..piece of ginger, minced
- 2 tomatoes.. chopped
- 1 teaspoon.. turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon..coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon.. cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon.. red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon.. garam masala powder
- 1/4 teaspoon.. salt
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Instructions:
- Rinse the urad dal in water until the water runs clear...Soak the dal in water for at least 30 minutes... or up to overnight.
- Drain the dal and set aside...
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened..about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute more...
- Add the tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.. about 5 minutes.
- Add the turmeric powder,. coriander powder.. cumin powder..red chili powder, garam masala powder.. and salt... Cook for 1 minute.. stirring constantly...
- Add the urad dal and stir to coat with the spices.
- Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the lentils are soft and mushy.
- Stir in the cilantro and serve hot.
Tips:-
- You can adjust the amount of spice to your liking. If you like your food spicy, add more red chili powder....
- If you don't have time to soak the dal, you can cook it for a longer time, about 30-40 minutes...
- You can garnish the Daal with a dollop of yogurt or a squeeze of lemon juice...
