Maash ki Daal fry Recipe

 


Ingredients:-

  • 1 cup urad dal (split black lentil)
  • 1 tablespoon.. oil
  • 1 onion..chopped
  • 2 cloves.. garlic, minced
  • 1 inch..piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 tomatoes.. chopped
  • 1 teaspoon.. turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon..coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon.. cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon.. red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon.. garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon.. salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the urad dal in water until the water runs clear...Soak the dal in water for at least 30 minutes... or up to overnight.
  2. Drain the dal and set aside...
  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened..about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute more...
  5. Add the tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.. about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the turmeric powder,. coriander powder.. cumin powder..red chili powder, garam masala powder.. and salt... Cook for 1 minute.. stirring constantly...
  7. Add the urad dal and stir to coat with the spices.
  8. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the lentils are soft and mushy.
  9. Stir in the cilantro and serve hot.

Tips:-

  • You can adjust the amount of spice to your liking. If you like your food spicy, add more red chili powder....
  • If you don't have time to soak the dal, you can cook it for a longer time, about 30-40 minutes...
  • You can garnish the Daal with a dollop of yogurt or a squeeze of lemon juice...
