Mutton Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg mutton, cut into medium-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mutton, turmeric powder, salt, and yogurt. Mix well to coat the meat. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  2. Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the bay leaf, cardamoms, cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  4. Add the red chili powder and garam masala powder. Cook, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  5. Add the marinated mutton to the pot. Stir to coat the meat in the spices.
  6. Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  7. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Tips:

  • You can use any type of mutton you like, but lamb shoulder is a good choice.
  • If you don't have time to marinate the mutton, you can skip that step, but the curry will be more flavorful if you do.
  • You can adjust the amount of chili powder to your liking. If you don't like spicy food, you can use less chili powder.
  • If you want a thicker gravy, you can add a little cornstarch or flour to the curry.

Enjoy...😊
