Mutton Stew Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilogram mutton, cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 potato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup peas

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the mutton and cook until browned on all sides.
  5. Add the water, carrot, potato, and peas. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the mutton is tender.
  6. Serve hot with rice or naan.

Tips:

  • If you don't have time to simmer the stew for 2-3 hours, you can pressure cook it for 30-45 minutes instead.
  • For a richer flavor, you can brown the mutton in a separate pan before adding it to the stew.
  • If you like your stew spicier, add more red chili powder.
  • You can also add other vegetables to the stew, such as green beans, zucchini, or mushrooms.

Enjoy...😊
